The 3-D High Definition Laser Scanning is the newest addition to the services provided by Geomarks. With its flexability and ability to collect digital, three-dimensional data, the 3-D HD Laser Scanning can be use in a wide variety of applications.
3-D and 4-D High Definition Laser Scanning
3-D High Definition Laser Scanning analyzes real world objects, structures and environments for projects to collect data on its shape and appearance. This data can then be used to construct digital, three-dimensional models useful for a wide variety of applications, such as:
- Architectural, engineering and industrial design;
- Reverse engineering and prototyping;
- Asbuilt drawings;
- Retrofit design;
- Documentation of existing conditions;
- Forensics;
- Construction verification;
- Heat expansion measurements;
- Computer visualization.
The 4-D incorporates time into the equation. The 3-D scan of the project's beginning until completion is an element that is extremely useful when analysing a project on a time and efficiency basis.

Traditional Surveying
Construction layout consists of the horizontal and vertical grade staking of all improvements to be constructed. This includes, but is not limited to, staking of buildings, curbing, asphalt, utilities and retention ponds. Proposed design elements form architectural and engineering plans are calculated into "stake out" points then exported to a handheld PC for use in the field. These points are stored to maintain quality assurance throughout the entirety of the project and there after for future reference.
As an integral part of construction layout, asbuilt surveys are required for the location of construction improvements. Occasionally, interim asbuilt surveys are required as phases of the construction process are completed. Final asbuilt surveys are performed after all construction has been completed.
A survey that establishes the configuration of the ground and the location of natural and man-made objects, delineating their relative positions and elevations. Topographic surveys are typically performed for engineering purposes, for determination of site drainage and depths of existing utilities.
A survey performed to the standards set forth by the American Land title Association (ALTA) and American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM). Alta surveys are typically required for commercial land transactions and are based on the title policy issued by the title company. The specific details of this type of survey vary, depending upon the individual lender requirements for the transaction.
A survey for the express purpose of locating the corners and boundary lines of a given parcel of land. This involves public record research along with measurements and computations to establish boundary lines in conformance with the Minimum Technical Standards. Easement lines may also be located and/or established with this type of survey.
